Why Learn the Language of the Quran

The Case for Understanding Quran in Its Original Language

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

“Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran that you might understand.” — Surah Yusuf 12:2

Five Compelling Reasons to Learn Arabic

📖

Direct Understanding

Read Quran understanding 70–80% without constantly checking translation — experience the Quran as intended.

No “Lost in Translation”

Translations are interpretations — one Arabic word may have 5+ English translations. The original language removes all ambiguity.

🙏

Deeper Connection

Experience the Quran as the Sahaba (companions) did — in its eloquent, powerful, and awe-inspiring original form.

📈

Independent Study

Become self-sufficient in Quran study — no longer dependent on others’ translations or interpretations.

🏩

Scholarly Path

Arabic is the foundation for advanced Islamic sciences — Hadith, Fiqh, Tafseer, and Seerah all require Arabic proficiency.

Example: One Word, Multiple Meanings

سَلَام

Salaam

1.Peace

2.Safety

3.Greetings

4.Security

All meanings simultaneously intended in the Quran!

📈 What You’ll Achieve

After 6 months: Recognise 50–60% of Quran words

After 12 months: 70–80% independent comprehension

Unlock all classical Islamic texts in original Arabic

Phase 4

Morphology (Sarf) — Word Forms

Months 13–16

Arabic words follow predictable patterns — like molds. Once you learn the patterns, you can identify the type and meaning of any unfamiliar Quranic word.

Common Word Patterns (Awzan)

فَاعِل (Faa’il) = The Doer

كَاتِب — Kaatib = Writer

قَارِئ — Qaari = Reader

عَابِد — Aabid = Worshiper

مَفْعُول (Maf’ool) = Receiver

مَكْتُوب — Maktoob = Written

مَقْرُوء — Maqroo = Read (thing)

مَصْدَر (Masdar) = Verbal Noun

كِتَابَة — Kitaabah = Writing

قِرَاءَة — Qira’ah = Reading

Derived Forms Example: Root ن-ص-ر (N-S-R = Help)

Form IنَصَرَNasara = He helped
Form IIنَصَّرَNassara = He Christianized
Form IIIنَاصَرَNaasara = He supported
Form VIIIاِنْتَصَرَIntasara = He was victorious

10+ forms derivable from any 3-letter root — each with specific, predictable meaning.

✓ Phase 4 Outcome

Deeper vocabulary mastery through morphology — identify word type, role, and meaning from its pattern alone, even for unfamiliar words.

Phase 5

Practical Quran Reading

Months 17–24 (or ongoing)

Module 15 — Grammar Analysis Applied to Quran

Select a verse → identify each word’s part of speech → determine grammatical role → parse sentence structure → translate with full comprehension.

Example Analysis: Surah Al-Ikhlas 112:1

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

FAQs

Quranic Arabic FAQs

No — this course focuses exclusively on reading and understanding Quranic Arabic. If you want conversational Arabic, we offer a separate Modern Arabic course designed for that goal.

After 6 months you will recognise 50–60% of Quranic words. After 12 months, 70–80% independent comprehension. Full mastery takes years — but 70% transforms your Quran reading experience completely.

Arabic grammar is actually highly systematic and logical — more so than English. With proper teaching and consistent daily practice, it is very achievable. Millions of non-Arabs have learned it successfully throughout Islamic history.

No — the course starts from absolute basics: the Arabic alphabet. No prior knowledge of any kind is required.

Yes, absolutely. Many of our students combine both courses. Understanding the meanings actually aids memorisation significantly — the verse becomes personal and meaningful, not just text.

The Translation course teaches you the meanings via pre-translated explanations. This Quranic Arabic course teaches you the language itself — so you can derive the meanings independently from the Arabic text.

20–30 minutes of daily vocabulary review, flashcard practice, and Quran reading makes a significant difference. Consistent daily practice accelerates progress far more than class frequency alone.
